Making my Student House Feel Like a Home

Image
After moving out of student accommodation and into a flat for second year I am starting to feel like an adult. Although finding a house and moving was stressful, its so calming to have my own (TIDY) space. However, student houses are typically plain and a bit mismatched so i have been on a mission to make our flat more homely. Hopefully this blog post will also inspire you and give you some (cheap!!!!) ideas on how to make your space feel like yours! Plants ( a cliche I know) Plants are an amazing and cheap way to bring some colour to your empty windows and shelves. If you are able to keep real ones alive then a tip I have learnt the hard way is to NOT leave them by radiators that get left on. It was a very sad but important lesson to learn and I am very sorry to those plants that got scorched by the heat. Ikea and supermarkets are great places to find cheap indoor plants. A Trip to Bristol Zoo

Image
I recently went on a trip to Bristol Zoo to research for my current uni project. Bristol Zoo. Bristol Zoo  is not only a zoo but also a conservation and education centre. As in my current uni project my focus is on animals and in particular endangered animals, Bristol Zoo was a great place for research as they help to protect endangered species. Some of my photos: Adult tickets are around £12-£17 and there is a 10% voluntary donation which they use to support their projects. If you are planning a visit to Bristol Zoo, it may also be worth checking out the Clifton Suspension bridge as its an iconic symbol of Bristol and extremely close to the zoo.

Bristol Museum

As part of my research for my current uni project I visited Bristol Museum. Museums are a great place to go for fun or for work especially when its raining outside. Although walking up the hill towards the museum is a bit of a trek, its definitely worth going to especially as its free! One of the most interesting exhibitions and one that has inspired my project the most is their exhibition on animal extinction. Instead of a normal animal exhibit where you can see into the glass displays and see them, they had placed black sheets over them. Along with this they had labels signifying the animals level of extinction. This was a very powerful exhibit as it really emphasised how many different animals are endanger and how humans have been impacting their decline. After visiting the exhibition children were given Post-It notes to right down their thoughts on what they had just seen and then they were displayed on a wall. I found this part extremely interesting as...
